Christina and I met at the University of Minnesota - Mortuary Science College. We quickly became friends and still are 16+ years later. As funeral directors, we see the importance of caring for families long after the funeral is complete.
I am honored to serve on the board for Healing Hearts Connection our local grief support organization where grief truly finds hope.
On March 7th, we will be participating in the Frunge. Yes, that means we cut a hole in the ice on a frozen Minnesota lake and voluntarily jump in. It is meaningful. It is freezing. It is slightly chaotic. And it raises the majority of the funds needed to send children and families to grief support camp.
As funeral directors, we see firsthand how deeply grief affects families. We meet parents learning to live without a child. Children trying to understand life without a parent. Spouses facing a future they never planned for. Grief can feel isolating and overwhelming.
What Healing Hearts Connection does so beautifully is remind people they are not alone. When children and families are surrounded by others who truly understand their loss, something shifts. The pain does not disappear, but it becomes a little more manageable. Grief camp gives kids a safe place to talk, laugh, cry and connect with others who simply get it. That kind of support matters more than we can measure.

Our personal fundraising goal is $1,000.
But here is where it gets interesting.
For every $1,000 raised over this goal, we will jump in the lake again. And again. And again.
So if we hit $2,000, that is two jumps.
$3,000, three jumps.
