I have been a volunteer at Healing Hearts Connection for the past 11 years (20 camps). When I went to my first camp in early 2013 as a volunteer, it was life changing... I felt like I was with family from day one. Camp after camp, I go to give a piece of my heart to every camp family who comes because they have experienced the death of someone they loved dearly. 

Little children come holding onto to mommy or daddy's hand - shy and scared but within hours, they are giggling, running, laughing and playing. Their adult family members come holding onto the younger kids' hands, nervous and tentative because this is GRIEF camp. Within hours, they are sharing their stories, crying, laughing and hugging each other because they feel seen and heard.

Hearts of Hope camps are transformational - an often overused descriptor but in this case, it is the only way to describe what happens over a weekend.

We want to continue to be able to have free camps for every family who are looking for support during one of the darkest times of their lives - yes, I said FREE camps - that is why we do the FRUNGE and try to raise a boatload of money this one day out of the year. 

2024 we are making this a Shevy family event and I hope my granddaughters will continue this family tradition long after I am unable...
