It was way back in January 2010, when 16 brave souls (some from as far away, (and warm), as Abilene, Texas) stepped up to the icy line next to a black water hole in the middle of Lake Beauty, in the middle of January, to plunge in and raise money for their beloved grief camp, Hearts of Hope. Those Original Frungers (the O.F.) were Mike Davies, Molly Doran, Kathy Jacobs, Kathy McClure, Sue Peterson, Katie Petschke, Roxann Storms, Nick Tunheim, Colby Whitmore and those Texans, Pat Baxter, Elaine Edwards, Mark Owens and Alvino Sanchez, Rex and Kevin. Jason Bexell had to join by jumping into the Moosehorn River when he couldn’t make it through the snowstorm that was raging that day. None of us knew what we were getting in to and all of us had to trust those two guys from Lake Beauty who had to ‘dunk’ us in.  We raised a whopping $9,000 at that first ‘plunge’ and many of the O.F. have ‘frunged’ again and again, more have joined in and raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to bring hope and healing to grieving families.  Twenty years of grief camps later, let’s get the O.F. together one more time and either join us in stepping up to that icy line again or help us raise the Original Goal of $9,000.
